The Fake Blood at McDonald’s…

August 24, 2010 at 7:25 pm (Uncategorized)

So the other day I was ordering some lunch from Mickey D’s and came in contact w/ Brad the  West Indian Blood.  My truck (pictured above), which is red is what sparked his excitement and zest to volunteer his affiliation.  What set?  You be the judge.  Maybe he’s from up North.  I dunno.  :0/

Yeah…  Think about that one for a second.

Anyways, I place my order and he asked me, “is Red your favorite color?”

“Nah,” I answered.

“It’s mine.  I love Red.  I’d died for it if you know what I mean.”  He offered.

Oh… okay!  * Shrug *

I was completely thrown.  We don’t really have much gang activity in the DC metro area (except from the Latino’s).  I’d take homeboy’s word for it, tho.  If he wants to be a Blood putting in work at McDonald’s who am I to judge?

* Sigh *

Life…

July 21, 2010 at 4:33 pm (Uncategorized)

One of the things thats certain in life is change.  People come and go and they serve a particular purpose in your life (as a very close friend of mine has put it).  Once that purpose has been served sometimes the relationship ends.  Sometimes on a good note or sometimes on a bad.  Over the past few years I have experienced some ups and downs.  I have people who were there for me when I needed them and people who just subtracted from what I was trying to accomplished.  What I have come to realize is your choice of friends should be made over a period of time.  It should never be made in haste.

Recently, I had a situation w/ a so called friend of mine.  They put me in a very bad position that put me in my family in a comprimising position.  The veil was finally lifted from my eyes and I saw them for what they really were.  At this point the friendship was terminated.  As these relationships go (3 plus years) sometimes you finally understand that they will never get it.  At this point, it’s time for you to cut your loses and move on.  I have done that w/ a clear head and no regrets.  I’m so happy to be put in a position to FINALLY get what was going on.  Because no matter how many friends you surround yourself w/ you still have to look at yourself in the mirror everyday.

In other news, I’m taking steps to make my life situations better.  I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of good friendships in my life to make this thing concrete.  No matter the pain it may cause I know that everything happens for a reason.  I’m confident that not only will I make it thru this trial victorious, but so will the ones whom lives I have effected in this process.  I’m hoping for the best for everyone.

My Prose…

July 8, 2010 at 12:14 pm (Uncategorized)

I’ve gotten a few request from some friends to add a few more pieces (poems, short stories, etc). I’ll try to be a little bit more consistant in the coming days. Lol!

The hiatus is now over, folks.

Friends to Foes…

July 8, 2010 at 12:13 pm (Uncategorized)

Recently, I’ve come to the decision that I still hold the title of friend very dear to my heart. Sometimes life gets ugly and the ones you choose to call friend can burn you quicker than an enemy. That’s when it’s time for you to cut your losses and move on.

The scent from the night before…

January 15, 2010 at 9:54 pm (Uncategorized) ()

Aroma of You

She held his shirt in her hands.  His scent was strong as she could smell it from across the room and knew that he had mistakenly left it there.  She raced to the front of her apartment opened the window just as he started to drive off.

“Heeeeey!  You forgot your shirt…”  She bellowed.

Unbeknownst to him he sped off in a rush.  Late for work as usual.  Their morning was started with a long greeted kiss that turned into a foreplay session that ended with cold showers.  They promised to wait as long as possible before taking it there.  Though, the tension continued to grow stronger with each encounter.  She wasn’t sure how much more they could take as their feelings grew stronger from the torturous foreplay.

She decided to call him later on the evening to let him know that he left his shirt.  Perhaps adding a joke about how he’s trying to mark his territory.  Or maybe not.  She wanted to be careful not to imply too much.  Joke or not their relationship wasn’t exactly strong enough for that type of remark.  Or at least that’s what she thought.

“Pssssh.  I guess we have a plan.”  She sighed, in a conversation with her girlfriend Jada, during lunch.  Jada had been her counselor in anything and everything involving relationships.

“Girl, just be careful.  I’ve played that game before and it usually ends up being just that – game.   You won’t know it until he gets your cookies and you never hear from him again.” Jada yelped.

They laughed and talked about the latest fashions, music, and favorite television shows.

When she got home the first thing she saw was his shirt hanging on her leather chair.  She strategically placed it there so she would remember to call him.  Without hesitation she grabbed it and inhaled the aroma of his incented oils imported from Dubai.

She smiled.  Carried the shirt upstairs to her room, before jumping in the tub for a relaxing hot bath.  She would call once she was done with her therapy of incented candles, smooth jazz, and glass of red.

Afterwards, as she proceeded to dial his number she heard…

“Hello?”

“Hello?  EJ?”  She said.

“Yeah, it’s me.  How are you?”  He offered.

“I’m good, but I think you…”

“Hey, did I leave my shirt over there?”  He interrupted.

“Yep.”

“Oh good, it wasn’t in my bag.  I didn’t know what happened to it.  I thought maybe someone got me at the gym.  Where is it?”

“I’m wearing it.”  She said with a seductive smile.

Happy New Years! (Belated)

January 12, 2010 at 3:06 pm (Uncategorized) ()

This goes against what I’m really about. I don’t get excited around the new year. I’m very blessed to know that I’ve made it to another year.

I think about all the falling soldiers losted in the midst of the struggle. Family and friends who left a ear mark on my memories. Relationships that have faulted…

I remember.

Yet, I also focus on new beginnings and goals that have been set in the past. It’s a new year, but I’ve been living this life for YEARS! Lol!

For those of you who are reading this – I wish you much success in the new year. I hope your season is a blessed one.

Peace

The Public Transportation Chronicles

November 9, 2009 at 3:13 pm (Uncategorized)

This weekend was filled w/ randomness.  I’m starting a new segment called the Public Transportation Chronicles b/c over the past few days I’ve experienced some wild stuff!  I’ll be doing this until I get my car back on the road or perhaps get a new one.

‘Noid Ali the Cabdriver

While on my way to my p/t job for the weekend I catch a cab from Southern Avenue Metro.  If you know the DC area you know a lot of folks on the Southside get dropped off (i.e. kilt) in this part of town.  Actually, I don’t even visit folks in this area and some of the baddest women are laced around these parts.  But I digress…

So I get a cab.  First, everything is cool.  ‘Noid (short for paranoid not No I.D.) the cabbie is in good spirits!  I’m listening to my Ipod inbetwix the makeshift conversation he offering and everything is good.  Eventually, I feel like I’m disrespecting so I turn off the Ipod and proceed to converse.

All of a sudden, things got crazy.  I knew something was off when he kept asking me the destination address.  No, like he asked like 5 times!  He kept driving and looking bk at me, driving looking bk, driving and looking back…  Mad offensive!    We hit Indian Head Hwy and he’s asking me how to get to the destination again.  I’m looking dead at his GPS system that he keeps entering my work address into…

Eventually, I give in.  (u gotta read this fast to get the full effect of the comedy that ensued)

Me: Look, man… you gonna want to get over in your right lane.

Cabbie: Whut?

Me: your right lane…

Cabbie: huh?

Me: your right lane…

Cabbie: where?

Me: your RIGHT laaaaannnnnne..

Cabbie: Why?

Me:  You just asked me for directions!?!?!  RIGHT LANE!!!

Cabbie:  Heeeey, Buddeeee…  U don’t have to yelllllll.  Take it easy.  Where are you going hmmm?

Me:  *sigh* / *gives address again*

Continues…

Me:  Okay, my street is coming up.  Make a left here at the light.

Cabbie: huh?

Me: left at the LIGHT!

Cabbie:  where?

Me:  The Light make a LEFT.

Cabbie:  huh?

Me:  MAKE A LEFT RIGHT HERRRRRREEEEEEE!

*Passes my street*

Me: Dude… WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG W/  YOU?!!?!?!?!

Cabbie:  Heeeeey, Maaan.  What’s going on?  What’s thee problem?

Me: *sigh*  Man, just take this street here and slow down.  I’ll tell you when to stop.

Cabbie:  Okay, Buddee…

Me:  Okay, slow down this is my spot…

Cabbie:  Huh?

Me:  Yo, STOP THE DAMN CAR!!!

Cabbie: Okay, Buddee that’s thirteen blah blah blah.

Me: *Hands him a dub*

Cabbie:  And tip?

Me:  MAN GIVE ME MY CHANGE, PLS…

I gave the idiot a dollar, but I shouldn’t have given him anything.  I think I’m too nice sometimes.  I think he thought I was gonna rob him.  :0(

Excerpts of Love…

November 4, 2009 at 8:58 pm (Poem)

This is a piece of a poem  I wrote a few years ago.  I go back and read old poems and sometimes I’ll share…  Nothing I’ve written this year will be looked at until next year so don’t ask…  I know it’s kinda dumb, but it’s a helpful exercise.  At least that’s what I read somewhere.  Also, I’m not in love.  I was at the time I wrote this, tho…

Peace.

Excerpts of Love

Once upon a Saturday Morning

I awake early in silence

Like I always do

You lay fast asleep to my right

Like you have so often since we’ve been together

I lay beside you w/ eyes open

Deep in thought about what the day will bring

Hung over from the love that was made the night before

Or the was it the alcohol and trees laced w/ endless conversation

Remnants of the aftermath of what grew into our lazy Saturday morning

Staring into a the plain white ceiling

I trace the corners of the room w/ my eyes

Stomach rumbling

My attention turns to you

I watch you as you offer a light snore

Eyes squint as sunlight rudely interrupts your slumber
